President – Bob Evanhoe Bob spent the early years of his career on
construction engineering projects in Alaska and northern California. He
retired in 1997 after 13 years as maintenance director at Rossmoor-Walnut
Creek and five years as Chief of Maintenance for the East Bay Regional Park
District. He and wife Cherie joined OCTA in 2000 in time to work on the Reno
convention. They live in Yreka and hosted the 2007 symposium there. He and
Cherie are now starting to plan the 2010 OCTA convention in Elko, Nevada.
Aside from his presidential duties, Bob also serves on the Trail
Talk editorial board. He is a member of Trails West and is currently
monitoring the Beckwourth Trail.

Vice President, Director -- John Winner John has been a member of OCTA since 1995 attending all of the National Conventions since 1996. His career spanned 36 years in property valuation, serving the last 10 years, prior to his retirement in 2002, as the Elected County Assessor of El Dorado County, California. Additionally, he taught fundamental and advanced real estate appraisal at the Junior College level for 20 years. John has had the privilege of studying western history for over 50 years visiting many of the mining camps in California, Nevada and Utah. Currently he is working with an OCTA team mapping the Johnson’s Cutoff emigrant trail in California and Nevada. For therapy, he and his wife Susan own and operate a small choose and cut Christmas Tree Farm in Placerville, California.

Director – Vince Correll Vince is a retired school district superintendent with a 29-year career in public education. He is now in his 27th year of a business he and his wife began upon retiring. Vince has been an OCTA member since 2003 and resides in Fresno, California. He also serves as chair of the CA-NV chapter membership committee.

Director - Dave Hollecker Dave is a retired
university media specialist with past careers as a real estate
appraiser and CBS film editor. He has been a member of OCTA since
1988, has served on the Board since 2005, and is on the
editorial board of Trail Talk. He was also president of Trails West,
Inc. from 2003-2006. Interests, besides trails, include gun
collecting, jazz, motorcycling, old cars and street rods. Dave

Director -- Dick Young Dick Young has worked and lived in the out-of-doors as a Civil Engineer. During time off he has hunted, fished, skied, backpacked and camped with his family. At the Genoa Symposium a few years ago he and wife Joan became acquainted with OCTA and since joining have enthusiastically worked with three group leaders on the Carson River Route and the Johnson’s Cutoff, locating, clearing and marking the trail. After attending the 2009 OCTA convention in Loveland, Colorado, Dick proposes to ensure that OCTA remains an educational, preservation-focused and fun organization. Member retention activities are a priority, and occasionally social functions for the trail outings are held at their home near Meyers, South Lake Tahoe.

Past President – Steve Knight Steve and Patty Knight live in Carson City, Nevada, where Steve is Executive Director/Administrator of the Silver State High School. Steve has a degree in Geology and his interest in historic mining and ghost towns put him on the emigrant trails. He joined OCTA in the mid 1990s and served as CA-NV Chapter President from 2006 to 2008, during which time he and Patty revitalized chapter meetings with interesting speakers and events.

Preservation Officer - Leslie Fryman Leslie is a professional historian and
archaeologist. She has been a member of OCTA since 1998 and CA-NV
preservation officer since 2001. In October 2008 she was also appointed
National Trails Preservation Officer for OCTA. She serves as an editor
on the chapter website and newsletter committees. Leslie lives in

Treasurer - Zeke Sicotte Zeke is a retired CPA, 1956-1996, and an OCTA
member since 1992. He has served as the CA-NV chapter Treasurer since
2002 and also chaired the NPS/OCTA Challenge Cost Share Program in
2001-2007. Zeke and his wife Nancy live in

Recording Secretary - Carol March Carol has been a member of OCTA since 1988 and served previously
as a member of the CA-NV Board and as well as chapter Treasurer. Carol
and her husband Hugh enjoy the learning opportunities offered by OCTA
through its annual conventions, chapter symposiums and outings on the
trails. Carol and Hugh reside in
