His career spanned 36 years in property valuation, serving the last 10 years, prior to his retirement in 2002, as the Elected County Assessor of El Dorado County, California. Additionally, he taught fundamental and advanced real estate appraisal at the Junior College level for 20 years. Vice President
Dick Young
Dick Young has worked and
lived in the out-of-doors as a Civil Engineer. During time off he has
hunted, fished, skied, backpacked and camped with his family. At the
Genoa Symposium a few years ago he and wife Joan became acquainted with
OCTA and since joining have enthusiastically worked with three group
leaders on the Carson River Route and the Johnson’s Cutoff, locating,
clearing and marking the trail. After attending the 2009 OCTA convention
in Loveland, Colorado, Dick proposes to ensure that OCTA remains an
educational, preservation-focused and fun organization. Member retention
activities are a priority, and occasionally social functions for the
trail outings are held at their home near Meyers, South Lake Tahoe.

Director
Michael Trueblood
I worked at Campbell's Soup in Sacramento for 25 years and am also a publicity agent for music and entertainment groups. Over the past year I've told dozens of people about the trails and their history and found that very few regular folks are aware that emigrant wagon trails still exist. I think the CA-NV Chapter could benefit from more publicity, particularly among younger people and kids.

Director
Mark Wilson
My trail interest developed in the mid 1990's when I purchased a book about John C. Fremont. I was hooked. After retiring from academic life, teaching forest ecology, I started a history tour business and that was when I became involved in OCTA. One of the projects that I am now coordinating is the California Trails Auto Route Sign Project. Having spent most of my professional career in education I look forward to working with the OCTA membership in our education efforts.
