Historical talks and a tour of landmarks that tell the history of Shasta County highlighted the OCTA, CA-NV Chapter's winter symposium in February.

Speakers covered a wide range of topics, from Archaeology to the Nobles Trail to a segment of the life of William B. Ide (in period clothing.)

The chapter's own Dick Silva and Tom Hunt talked respectively on the Oregon to California Trail and the Nobles Trail.

Judge Richard Eaton captured the audience with his great knowledge of Maj. Pierson B. Reading's life and contributions to history.

The tour of Old Shasta, its museum, bakery, and  Masonic Hall was a fine ending of the weekend.

A big thanks to Charlie and Nola Little for a fine meeting.

After touring Old Shasta, the groups went on to the site of Fort Reading, the 1924 Bridge on the Nobles Trail, and the Ide Adobe.
